Insurance Card AI Updates

This enhancement introduces AI-powered extraction of insurance card information to streamline patient intake and reduce manual data entry. When an insurance card is scanned or uploaded, the system can automatically extract key details and populate the appropriate fields within the patient’s chart. This helps minimize manual entry while improving overall data accuracy.

By automating the capture of insurance information, front-desk staff can process patient records more efficiently and reduce the risk of errors that may lead to claim denials or billing issues. The system also highlights in red potential discrepancies between scanned card data and existing records, allowing staff to quickly verify and confirm accurate information.

Chart Notes & Chart Notes Types

We’ve enhanced Chart Notes to provide a more integrated and flexible documentation experience within the patient chart. Chart Notes can now be created, managed, and viewed directly from the Chart Tree and Chart Data Widget, allowing users to organize non-clinical documentation alongside other chart items while maintaining consistent workflows for permissions, auditing, filtering, and record management. In addition to traditional General chart notes, administrators can now configure specialized note types for Growth Charts, Problem Lists, Flowsheets, and Healthwatcher, giving users dedicated documentation areas directly within those workflows.

This enhancement also introduces improved note management capabilities, including support for saving, editing, signing, and deleting Chart Notes based on user permissions. Once a note is signed, it becomes a permanent part of the patient record and can no longer be modified or removed. Administrators can create and manage multiple Chart Note types, control visibility within the Chart Tree, and configure access by role. Together, these updates provide a more streamlined, organized, and reliable approach to chart documentation while maintaining appropriate controls and audit visibility.

Chart Notes Feature Brief

Hover Over Lab Order To See Result

Within the Chart Tree, there is a quick access to laboratory results directly from the patient chart without switching screens. Providers can now simply hover over a lab order within the Chart Tree to view its associated results without needing to open the individual chart item. This enhancement makes it easier to review lab information at a glance, reducing unnecessary navigation and supporting more efficient clinical workflows.

This functionality is enabled by default and can be managed through the Chart Tree settings. Practices that prefer to disable this feature can select “Disable Display Test Results on Linked Order Chart Hover.” This added flexibility allows providers to quickly access relevant lab information while maintaining control over their preferred chart viewing experience.

Advanced Appointment Prep

We’ve introduced Advanced Appointment Prep, an enhanced appointment preparation experience designed to provide a more structured, task-oriented workflow for verifying upcoming appointments. Instead of relying on a general review process, staff are guided through clearly defined preparation steps, helping ensure important items are reviewed consistently before the patient arrives.

The new workflow organizes appointment preparation into dedicated tasks such as appointment confirmation, eligibility verification, balance and copay review, and patient note review. Practices can customize subtasks to align with their specific workflows, while completed tasks are tracked by user name to provide greater accountability and visibility into who completed each step. With progress indicators, task-level notes, and a clear verification process, Advanced Appointment Prep helps streamline appointment readiness and supports a more consistent front-office workflow.

TriMed Connect: Support Case Access

TriMed has introduced a Case Communication Access setting that allows practices to control how case communications are shared with users. Users will have two options:

  • Practice Level
  • User Level

Practice Level

When Practice Level is enabled:

  • All users will have access to TriMed Connect case communications.
  • When TriMed Support replies to a case, the response will be available to all users through TriMed Connect.
  • Email notifications will continue to be sent based on the existing workflow.

User Level

When User Level is enabled, case communication access can be controlled at the individual user level.

  • When a user creates or sends a message to TriMed Support, the logged-in user will automatically be selected as the default recipient for case communications.
  • The user can add additional users who have TriMed Connect enabled.

  • Only the users selected for Case Access will receive TriMed Support replies through TriMed Connect.

  • This allows a case conversation to be limited to a single user or shared with multiple selected users.
  • Email notifications will be sent to the email address associated with each selected user’s account.
  • Users can add or remove other eligible users from the case communication access list as needed.

This provides practices with flexibility to either maintain the existing practice-wide communication workflow or limit case communications to specific users.

A new Global Setting has been added to reconcile all same-day appointments when one appointment is reconciled.

When enabled, reconciling one appointment will automatically apply the same reconciliation logic to all other appointments for that patient with the same Date of Service (DOS).
