Custom ICD Descriptions

Oftentimes the way a provider thinks of the diagnosis description is different then the official diagnosis description provided by CMS and NCHS. Put simply, the billing diagnosis does not always match the clinical assessment. Moreover, when assessing a condition a generic description often fails to capture important distincts involved in the assessment (laterality, severity, accompanying conditions or modifying factors). Recording left knee pain brought on with exercise is more informative than knee pain OR severe wheezing relieved by inhaler offers more insight than wheezing.

New Custom Billing Option on Immunizations

In Admin > Immunization a new billing option has been added for cases in which typical component or vaccine billing rules don't fit.

From the Billing Type dropdown, select Custom Billing. When Custom Billing is selected, four different CPTs can be added to an immunization.

  • Private CPT Code
  • Private Admin Code
  • Gvt CPT Code
  • Gvt Admin Code

These codes will be added upon Superbill creation and operate independent of component immunization billing logic. When the superbill is created, the system will check if the immunization was set to Private or Gvt and add the codes accordingly.

Warning on Note Template Notification Rule

Now that many clients are using Field Level Save when documenting their notes the need to click Save becomes obsolete. Within Notification Rules there is an option for Note Templates to trigger the notification on Save - First Time Action Occurs. Since most users are not clicking Save there is a chance that the notification will not trigger when the client intends it to. The system will now display a warning to the user in Notification Rules Admin 'Selecting First Time Action Occurs is not recommended as Field Level Save is more commonly being used’ if the Save - First Time Action Occurs option is selected.

Blood Pressure % for Pediatrics

The Blood Pressure percentile for Pediatrics calculation can help determine whether a child has a healthy blood pressure for his/her height, age and gender. High blood pressure in children is an important health issue in children as it can be associated with obesity, and can be a risk factor for heart disease and stroke in the future.

Typically patients who have less than 90 as the percentile for the systolic and diastolic value are considered within the normal range. When a patient's percentile is > 90 and < 95 they are considered to have prehypertensive systolic and/or diastolic blood pressure. When the percentile is > 95 they are considered to have hypertensive systolic and/or diastolic blood pressure.

TriMed Complete will now display the BP % for children ages 2-17 years old based on the patient's age, gender and height. If the patient does not have a height value for the given days visit then the system will use the patient's last height value within the past 1 year.

e-Prescribing Indicator

A new indicator has been added to the top of the EHR that will alert users when a prescription has failed to eSend.

By default this sensor will show for all users, but can be disabled within User Preferences > Home/SysWide.

When the user opens the sensor they will have an option to choose which provider(s) they wish to view.

  • If the user is not a provider and a provider is NOT selected from the list, then all providers will show
  • If the user is a provider then the sensor will default to the logged in provider, but additional providers can be selected from the list.

Clicking 'See e-send Alerts' will open a pop up where the user can see all of the failed Rx. Here the user can click the patient's med to open the patient chart. Once the failed prescription has been resolved the user can click 'Complete' to remove it from the list.

Encounter Summary

The Encounter Summary is a quick view of what was recorded during a patient visit. This summary view offers the ability to see a snapshot of an encounter and eliminates extra fields and text that are not beneficial to see after a visit has been completed. Encounter Summaries are great to have when reviewing past encounters.

BMIRangeICD

For the BMIRangeICD function the system will determine based on the patient's age which is the appropriate ICD-10 code to use.

For patient's between ages 2 and 19 years old the system calculates the ICD based on the Pediatric BMI Percentile Range. For patient's ages 20 and over the system calculates the ICD based on the patient's actual BMI value.

BMIRangeICD can be entered into the ICD field on the BMI vital control allowing the system to calculate and generate the appropriate code onto the Superbill.
