New Immunization Interval Rule for Live Vaccines (FluMist, MMR, and Varicella)
TriMed has added a new system rule to ensure proper spacing for live-virus vaccines, including MMR, Varicella, and live influenza (FluMist®). These vaccines may be administered on the same day, but if they are given on different days, they must be separated by at least 28 days. If administered before the 28-day interval, the later dose is considered invalid. Please note: the four-day grace period does not apply to the interval between two live-virus vaccines.
Setup Required: To enable this functionality, go to Admin > Immunization > Influenza > FluMist CVX Codes and add the appropriate FluMist CVX codes.
How it Works: If a patient has received FluMist and an MMR and/or Varicella vaccine is ordered within 28 days, the system will display a note alerting the user, as shown in the example below.
