Quick Add Subnote Change

When using the Quick Add feature on notes to pull in a subnote, the system will now always pop up the subnote for the user to fill out as the fields are being added to the note in the background. When the user clicks "Save&Close," they will see the subnote as well as the data they filled out in the pop-up.

Add Form vs Add Merge SubNote Templates

When adding a subnote from the top of a note, there are now two options: Add Form and Add Merge.

Add Form - When selected, the subnote will open as a pop-up. The user will fill out the subnote and click "Save & Close." The data on the template will look exactly like the subnote.

Add Merge - When selected, the subnote will open as a pop-up. The user will fill out the subnote and click "Save & Close." A bluebox will be added to the note and will include the word merge format set in SubNote Admin to display the text.

'Default Injections to Minimize' User Preference

A new User Preference has been added, making injections show as minimized when viewing the Injections on the Quick Order tab. This allows the user to see more of the list.

To view or order an injection, click the arrow or injection name to expand the section.

'Copy To' on Patient Forms

When a user clicks "Yes" to copy a form to other family members, the system will check first to see if a patient has had the form and if so, if it is within the Recurring Days (set in Patient Form Admin).

If it is within the Recurring Days, the form will not copy to the patient’s chart. If the patient has not had the form within the Recurring Days, the form will copy to the patient’s chart.

Patient Updates - New Feature

This new feature enhances the usability and functionality of fields containing data regularly tracked on a patient, where only the most recent update needs to be displayed. Examples of this type of data entry include Surgical History, Medical History, Social History, and Advanced Directives. Users can update Past Medical History or Social History without having to open a note. Previously, this could be accomplished with Sub Notes and Chart Headers, but Patient Updates provide text formatting options and ease of initial setup.

To begin setup, go to Admin > System Setup > Lookup Lists > Patient Headers.

Click "New," and enter a Patient Update Name and Field Name.

Next, in User Preferences > Header Tabs, select "Patient Updates" and then the Patient Update Name as set up in Lookup Lists.

On the Chart Headers, the most recent data will be displayed. Click the Header Name to see a history of changes.

Use the Bold, Italics, Underline, and Strikethrough options to format the text.

On a Note, use the new "Patient Update Control" by placing it on the note and linking the Field name to the Patient Header in Lookup Lists.

When you make an edit to one of these fields on a note, it will immediately update on the Chart Widget.

Guided Patient Payments

This feature helps staff collect a payment from the Check-in page and was primarily designed to help while gathering payments from cash-pay patients. This feature allows the EHR user to select the reason they are taking the payment before they take the payment (Preventative Visit, Non-Preventative Visit, Non-Encounter Charges Only, or Previous Balance Only). Once the user makes a selection, the system has built-in logic that considers if the patient has insurance or is cash pay, and will present the user with the payment amount to be collected at the visit.

To Enable this feature, go to Check-in Admin > Site Setup > Guided Patient Payments.

On the check-in page, when a user clicks the "Open Payment" icon, they will see a pop-up and will select one of the available options.

Preventative Visit: This defaults the Well Copay amount. It will also show all of the preventative visits in the dropdown along with the charge amount.

Non-Preventative Visit: If this is a cash patient, the system will default to a Level 3 Visit Code (this default can be changed in Check-in Admin). The system has logic to determine if it is an Established Patient or a New Patient, so the user should not have to change the dropdown unless there is an outlying circumstance. The two codes in the dropdown are the Est. vs. New patient codes. If the patient is not cash pay, the system will default to their sick copay.

Non-Encounter Charges Only: This defaults to the Non-Encounter tab on the payment screen.

Previous Balance Only: This screen will only display rows for the user to collect a Previous balance and Non-Encounter Charges.

Chart Notifications

At times staff members need a way to remind users of something that pertains to a specific patient, but does not necessarily pertain to a specific chart item or encounter. Previously users had the ability to send notifications on chart items or on an encounter; now users have the ability to send Chart Notifications.

Enable Chart Notifications in Global Settings.

Once enabled, the Chart Notifications option will appear on the top of the patient chart:

To add a new Chart Notification click the text "Chart" and enter the notification message and select the team or user who should receive the notification:

The counter will indicate how many open Chart Notifications exist on the patient.

To view all open Chart Notifications or to mark a Chart Notification 'Complete' click the bell icon.

Notification Quick Picks

Go to Admin > Decision Support > Notification Quick Pick to set up quick pick options. Select the "Chart Task" checkbox.
