Next week, we will be unveiling the newest in our Kuali Build feature line-up: The Signature Gadget.

Unleash your inner John Hancock with the soon to be released Signature Gadget, allowing you to request the signature of a form submitter or reviewer during the form submission or workflow processes. 

Submitters or reviewers have the option to type, draw, or upload an image of their signature.

We’re excited to announce that the latest updates to the form builder are now active in your apps. Here are some of the things to look forward to in this update:

• Nested sections are easier to see and troubleshoot
• Labels are always in blue and stand out better from the gadget content
• There is better padding and spacing around elements
• The fonts are easier to read
• There are fewer horizontal lines in the form, making it easier to read

We hope you enjoy these improvements and that they make your forms easier to build and to use.

We've recently completed some improvements that will make form editing and submitting much clearer.

These improvements will also make it clearer when sections are nested inside each other. When this change goes live, we encourage you to review all your forms and make sure everything looks the way you want it. Even though Halloween is coming, we don't want you to be surprised. 🎃 

You can even get a sneak preview of these changes now by adding "?newformsui" right after the /builder/ in your browser address bar. Just navigate to the form you want to preview and edit the URL thusly:

We've unveiled the latest in our Build Form Controls: View Only Mode and Form Section Overrides. 

These new features give you more control over your forms and allow you to determine who should be able to view or edit certain sections of a form.

Look forward to the following with these new enhancements:

 Builders can freeze critical form information if needed or enable the editing of specific sections as a form is processed by reviewers.

Set edit, view, or hide permissions for reviewers on each form section, at each workflow step.

We increased the power of our workflow integration step by enabling Build workflow to wait for an external service to process multiple actions, such as updating campus systems or data sets, prior to the workflow continuing to process. 

With this update, new information can be passed back to Build mid-stream workflow, creating some pretty exciting future automation opportunities.  

We've been working tirelessly to cook up our latest Build concoction, Build Form Controls, which will give builders more controls over editing forms. 

Our latest creation needs a little more time to bake in the oven so we'll be unveiling Form Controls early next week instead of this one.

Early next week, we’ll be unveiling the latest in our Build Form Controls: View Only Mode and Form Section Overrides. 

These new features give you more control over your forms and allow you to determine who should be able to view or edit certain sections of a form. When editing a form, builders can freeze critical information if needed or enable the editing of specific sections as a form is processed by reviewers. 

Yesterday we pushed out a small (but welcome) change to the time picker. We were using a "clock-style" time picker that was confusing to people and we decided to improve the experience. The new time gadget now looks like a simple text field but actually does some nice formatting tricks.

As you type, the field will automatically infer what you're typing and add the colon and other formatting you need. You can type in a full time like "12:30" and it types like normal. You can also type "88a" and it will render it as "8:08 AM."

Either way, the experience is better, both for the submitter and the admin. Please note that this change doesn't do anything to your data. Enjoy! 

We hope you're having a great week and we wanted to give you a heads-up on an upcoming Build update. Next Monday, Sept 28 at 4pm MST we will be turning off access to the legacy gadgets that are currently visible in the Form Builder.

At the same time, we will be automatically migrating any forms that still use these gadgets to use the new Smart Gadgets instead. This is a very good thing. The new Smart Gadgets do everything the legacy gadgets did, but so much more.

This migration process should be invisible and seamless to our customers. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to our team. Cheers!

We just released the power of the newest Kuali Build feature:

Smart Data Gadgets! 💡 

This new set of form gadgets will enable students, staff or faculty, to fill out one field, such as Student ID, and have related information, such as Student Name, GPA, or Major, automatically populate in other form fields.

These gadgets will significantly enhance submission experiences and increase the quality of data collected, keeping your systems of records, such as your Student Information System, front and center.

The release will enable form builders and form submitters to:

Quickly Submit Test Forms

Auto-populate form fields with information associated on a linked database record. For example, select a student name and have ID, major and credits completed automatically complete on the form.

Simulate Complex Workflow Branches

Use linked metadata associated with a record, such as student GPA, credits or status, to limit field visibility, regardless of whether the information is shown in a field on the form submission.

Filter with Linked Metadata 

Enhance report filters and views using linked metadata, increasing the richness and usability of form submissions with no additional work required.
