✉️ Set Which Trainer Appears on Invitation Emails

If you're on a premium plan, you can now set the trainer you want to appear on your invitation emails.

By default, the user displayed on an email invite is the user who triggered the invitation by inviting a learner to a course, or a trainer to the workspace. You can leave as is, or choose another option.

These options include:

  1. Automatic — this is the status quo, and depends on who did the inviting.
  2. No trainer  — don’t display any trainer in the email.
  3. Specific trainer — display a trainer you have specified.

👀 New preview-mode toolbar for courses

We’ve introduced a new preview-mode toolbar that gives users control over how they preview the course. Included in this update is the ability to:

  1. Preview the draft or published version of the course
  2. Ignore course settings
  3. Preview the course on multiple devices

Draft / Published version

You can now choose to preview either the draft or published version of the course. A course will have a draft version if you have unpublished changes to any of the course content e.g. lesson or quizzes. The published version of the course is the version that learners can see.

Course settings

By default when previewing a course, all courses settings that can inhibit your ability to properly preview a course have been disabled. These settings include;

  • Course availability dates
  • Course prerequisites
  • Module order
  • Lesson lock-step

If you need to test the course with the settings active, simply enable them by clicking the toggle next to each setting.

Device preview

As part of this release we’ve introduced the ability to preview how your course will appear on different devices. We’ve included 3 options for you to test:

  1. Desktop (default)
  2. Tablet
  3. Mobile

🗑 Batch Delete and Deactivate Users

You can now batch delete and deactivate learners from the users page.

For those of you who’ve found yourself deleting old users one-by-one, you’ll be pleased to know that you can now batch delete users.

Try it yourself by heading over to the Users page and select a number of learners from the learners tab by clicking over the table row and checking the checkbox next to their name. As you do this, you’ll see the batch toolbar appear from the bottom of the page that now includes Deactivate and Delete buttons.

GDPR and user deletion

As part of GDPR Coassemble now permanently deletes all personal identifying information (PII) from the database. If you choose to delete users from your workspace (where your workspace is the only workspace they are a member of), their PII will be unrecoverable, along with all of their results and progress. You will not be able to reverse this action.

If any of your users is a member of another workspace, their PII will remain until they’ve been removed from all workspaces.

Deactivating users

If you need to keep a learner's records, but want to remove their access to your workspace, you should deactivate them rather than delete them. A deactivated user does not count towards your user count, and importantly, their user records are stored. You can reactivate a user at any time, and this will restore enrollments, course progress, and user permissions.

Certificates emailed to learners when issued

To improve the workflow for your learners, we’ve introduced a new email that is automatically sent when they are issued a certificate for completing a course. In addition to recognising their achievement, this email will allow learners to access their certificates without having to access the course.

Global settings for Finish screen & Certificates

We’ve just released an exciting update that will allow you to ‘set-and-forget’ all of the settings related to learners finishing a course.  From today, you can configure the following globally:

  • The issuing of Certificates
  • Your Certificate design
  • Course Finish screen states

Issuing of Certificates

If you are currently issuing certificates for every course in your workspace, you’ll be happy to know that you can now set the issuing of certificates to ON by default. By doing this, every new course you create will automatically be set to issue certificates.

The global configuration can be overridden for each individual course, so if there are some courses that you don’t want to use them, you can set them to OFF by clicking the Override button from the Finish screen inside your course, and then unchecking the ‘Issue certificate’ button.

Note that the issuing of certificates is set to ON by default.

Certificate design

You can configure a global Certificate design that can be applied to all courses of your courses. To set this up, head over to the Customize > Certificate design tab. From here, you can set up your certificate, and it will be used as the default course certificate for every new course you create. If you make any changes, these changes will be reflected in any course that is using the global design.

Once again, if you want to create a unique certificate design for a particular course, you can do this for each individual course by clicking the override button from the certificate designer inside a course.

Course Finish screen states

As a trainer, you can tailor the course finish experience for your learners using the 'Finish Screen' tab inside a course. Although you may have used the same message for every course, you were required to set it up every time. With this release, you can set it up once, and it will be applied to all new courses going forward.

You can tailor the finish experience to suit each possible finish state on your course. Depending on what modules you have in your course, there are 3 possible finish states:

  1. The learners completes the course and passes
  2. The learner finishes the course and fails (only available if you have a quiz or assignment module)
  3. The learner finishes the course but is waiting for a trainer to grade an assignment (only available if you have an assignment module)

You can override the global configuration on a course-by-course basis if you want by clicking the ‘Override’ button from the Finish screen inside a course.

Inline editing

In addition to all of these great changes, we've updated the finish screen editor inside the course builder to include inline editing.

⭐️ Star courses

Learners can now star courses they reference frequently, or are currently working through.

To star a course, learners can click the star icon in the top-right-hand corner of the course card. Starring the course pins it to the top of the dashboard. Learners can star as many courses as they like.

🏞 Name Change for Text With Image Screen

We've just changed the name of the Text with Image screen to better represent how it is used in the platform by the majority of our users. More often than not, our users treat the Text with Image screen as a blank page where they add videos, images, and tables using the Text editor, instead of relying on the image uploader placeholder.

In light of this, we've changed the name of the screen to Blank screen and have removed the image placeholder so that you don't feel inclined to use just an image. You can still add images with the text editor, and align and resize them any way you like.

Image captions

So that there was no reduction in functionality for this screen, we've added support for captions inside our text editor. Now you can add captions to images any where you add an image using our text editor.

Will this effect my existing screens?

This change will not effect any of your existing Text with Image screens. Any images you added previously will remain in place.

🎉 Learner Results and Finish Screen Have Been Combined

We've just launched a major change to the learner Finish screen that makes it easier for learners to view their course progress, results and course Certificates all on one page.

What's changed?

The learner Finish screen and Results screen have been combined to form a single, easy to read summary of the course progress and results, plus detailed analytics of their performance. From the same screen, learners can also view and share their certificates to Linkedin.

Prior to this release, the Finish screen and Results screens had to be accessed from two seperate pages. Now this single screen can be accessed at the end of a finished course, and from the learner dashboard.

Why we made this change?

We decided to provide learners with a summary of their results and progress on the finish screen so that they can:

  • Easily see the steps they’ve missed and need to address to complete the course
  • Provide quick links to assessment items that require additional attempts (quizzes and assignments)
  • Easily see why they may have not passed/completed a course i.e. requirements not met.

Providing access to the this screen from the learner dashboard, gives learners the ability to:

  • Get a snapshot of their current progress without having to go to a new screen
  • Get access their results/progress, even if the course has expired

🏆 Sharing Digital Certificates on Linkedin

On completion of a course, learners can unveil their digital certificate by clicking the ‘Open’ button on the Finish screen.

When clicked, the certificate is revealed with a number of options that allow learners to download a printable version of the certificate, make a copy of their public URL, or add it to their profile on Linkedin under ‘Licenses & Certifications’.

When adding to Linkedin, learners share a link to a public URL where the certificate can be accessed by anyone. This public link displays a unique Credential ID that is generated for every certificate issued in Coassemble.
