Tarrasque.io v0.13.0: Select Multiple Tokens

Hi everyone! I've been listening to all your feedback and I'm so excited to announce that, in this release, tokens have been completely reworked and are now more flexible and powerful than ever! Enjoy!

  • You can finally select multiple tokens! Just tap-and-drag to select, or hold Shift and tap another token.

  • Also, you can now move selected tokens using keyboard arrow keys (▲▼►◄).
  • More importantly, Tiny creature tokens are now officially supported!¹

  • Don't use creature images? You can now change an individual token's color to separate it from the rest! Additionally, you can change its border style (circle, rounded, square).

  • The HP bar height is now based on token height instead of grid square height. The bigger a token is, the bigger its HP.²
  • Added the custom color picker from the Shapes tool to the Draw tool.
  • Changed the Monster and Spell import icons to make it a bit more obvious what they do.
  • Changed the grid line width stepper from 1px to 0.5px per step.
  • Fixed an issue with hidden tokens where the HP bar wasn't properly hidden in DM View.

1: There's still a minimum width/height of 20px per token, so if you can't resize a token to tiny you might need to scale your map to a higher resolution. Hit me up if you need some help with that!
2: This is intended to help with Tiny tokens which would otherwise be covered by the HP bar. If you find that this causes issues with larger tokens, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Tarrasque.io v0.12.1

Hi everyone! Running multiple campaigns or just have too many maps? Then this release is for you. Enjoy!

  • You can now tag new and existing battle maps!

  • The dashboard has been updated with search and filtering functionality. You can mix and match searching and filtering with ease! The little dot on the Filter button indicates that filtering is ongoing.

  • Pressing the Filter button pops up a dialog that allows you to filter your battle maps by one or more tags. The more tags, the more specific the filtering.

  • And of course, the in-app battle maps menu has the same filtering functionality as well. As on the dashboard, the little dot indicates that filtering is ongoing.

  • Added a custom cursor for drawings and Area of Effect shapes.

  • Gridline width now also accepts a decimal instead of just an integer.
  • Moved drawings behind Fog of War, to better support on-the-fly drawn maps.
  • Changed the main text font to improve legibility across devices and screen sizes.
  • Changed the Draw tool's icon to make it a bit more obvious what it does.

  • Added a list of all major features to the landing page.
  • Moved the Frequently Asked Questions to their own page.
  • Improved navigation speed between pages.
  • Fixed a memory leak with the context menu on the app.
  • A lot of general performance improvements.

Tarrasque.io v0.12.0: Combat Notes & Roll HP

Hi everyone! A new update is now live with a ton of improvements, bug fixes, and a couple of new features 😉 Enjoy!

  • You can now add notes to combatants to keep track of important information like conditions and spell slots!

  • Added a new combat toggle to automatically roll HP dice for a monster when it joins combat!

  • You can now change a combatant's maximum HP on the fly! Your monsters are no longer bound to their stat block HP values!

  • Added a right-click/long-press menu to the battle map for a clearer way to Ping Location when using the Pan tool!

  • Added a "Clear All" button for Area of Effect shapes.

  • Added a button to the dashboard to import the sample map in case you've misplaced yours!

  • Added a loading indicator when switching from the dashboard to a battle map and vice-versa.
  • Renamed "Switch to Map" to "Redirect to Map" in an effort to make it easier to understand what the feature does.
  • Replaced the placeholder "Bruenor Battlehammer" and "Tarrasque" when creating a new creature with "Cardan Grayson" and "Goblin" as they contain more common defaults.
  • Increased initiative input width to better suit negative or 3-digit initiative numbers.
  • Changed Fog of War icon to make it a bit more obvious what it does.

  • Fixed an issue where the combat tracker would sometimes lose track of the next combatant when the current combatant's token is deleted.
  • Fixed an issue where Undo didn't always remove AoE shapes.
  • Fixed an annoyance with the HP Adjuster which waited for the HP to finish changing before closing the popover.
  • Fixed an issue where the combatant initiative and HP numbers wouldn't be vertically centered.

If you've made it this far, I just wanna say thank you. This tool couldn't exist without your support!

Tarrasque.io v0.11.2

Hi all! Tarrasque.io v0.11.2 is now live with a few improvements and bugfixes! Enjoy!

  • Active combatant now has a pulsing animation in the Combat Tracker, much like it does on the map! I'm hoping this will increase its visibility a bit more.

  • Eraser for the freehand draw tool for deleting individual lines.

  • You can now click a token to "lock" the Combat Tracker on, to avoid it scrolling whenever you hover over another token!
  • Accidental token resizings are no more - you now have to first select a token before you can resize it.
  • The dice roller now automatically focuses the text box on non-touch devices so you can roll even faster!
  • Fixed an issue with the token identifier badges not being proportional to the grid square.
  • Removed a bunch of unnecessary "success" notifications.

Tarrasque.io v0.11.1

Hello everyone! A new release just went out with a few great additions and improvements that I personally can't wait to play with. Enjoy!

  • Combat Tracker for the Guest View! 🎉 Let your players know who's next on the initiative list with this minimal version of the DM Combat Tracker. The same combat settings apply, so if you don't want to show monster HP on the map, they won't show on the tracker either! And of course, hidden creatures remain hidden from the player view.

  • Counters for multiple tokens of the same creature! 🥳 No more "which goblin?" questions at the table. Only applies to combatants so that you're not bombarded with counters on every map!

  • Fixed an issue where deleting a combatant that was before the active combatant would mess with the current initiative order.
  • Optimized the token context menu so that it gets reused by all tokens instead of having one context menu per token 😅

Tarrasque.io v0.11.0: Area of Effect

Hi everyone, surprise update! I decided to split this one into two parts so I can get some feedback while I work on the rest of the AoE feature-set. Here's what's new:

  • You can now place Area of Effect shapes on the map to indicate spell and ability effects! It's a bit limited currently, but I'm working on some cool stuff for it. Let me know what you want to see!

  • Fixed an issue with the grid becoming misaligned when a stat block is open.
  • Fixed an issue with the What's New widget not updating the unread post count.

Tarrasque.io v0.10.1

Hi everyone, and a warm welcome to all the new patrons!

The Area of Effect release is progressing steadily, although my brain hurts from all the maths - just a few things left before it's ready! For today, I have a few improvements and bugfixes for you that just went live:

  • You can now lock a Fog of War area in place to stop it from being accidentally dragged or resized!

  • Fixed an issue where the HP bar would cover part of the token on smaller maps. The HP bar will now resize based on your grid square dimensions. Let me know if this causes any weird sizing issues for you.
  • Fixed an issue with the Combat Tracker auto-scroll which would always scroll you back to the active combatant.
  • The grid color picker is now hidden behind a toggle so that it doesn't take half of your screen space.

  • Removed the border around the selected token to allow the tokens to expand closer to the grid. Happy to put it back if people really want it though!
  • Changed drawing board's "Clear All" icon to make it more obvious what it does.
  • Changed the "New Battle Map" tile on the Dashboard to a button for better use of space. Also because an "Import Sample Map" button is coming pretty soon 😁

New Public Roadmap

I'm happy to announce that the Tarrasque.io Public Roadmap has been moved from Trello over to Nolt.io. Check it out at https://tarrasque.nolt.io/roadmap!

The new roadmap makes the priority of features a lot clearer and gives you a quick look at trending suggestions. It's also a whole lot easier to vote and search for tasks, and you now have the ability to post suggestions yourself.

I've ported over all of the existing suggestions and votes, so there's a bit of a headstart there already.

Enjoy, and thanks for your support again!

Hi everyone! After a small hiccup with the release yesterday, the issue is now fixed and v0.10.0 is now live! This release brings a couple of new things that I'm sure you'll all enjoy!

  • Fixed an issue with the Ping Location circle not animating on Firefox and changed it to only work with the Pan tool.
  • Fixed an issue with Switch to Map redirecting viewers who were already on the correct map.
  • Switched back to single-tone icons to maintain a flat minimalistic look.

Tarrasque.io v0.9.1

Hi guys! Animated maps and tokens for .gif and .webp are finally here! Videos to follow soon! Plus a few more fixes in this release 😃

  • Animated maps and tokens! Be aware that they take a toll on your CPU, so use with caution!
  • Hovering/selecting a combatant's token now automatically scrolls you to them in the Combat Tracker! Same for the active combatant.

  • Added "Actions", "Features & Traits", "Equipment", and "Spells" to adventurer stat blocks. Renamed "Description" to "Notes". One step closer to full character sheets!
  • Zoom can now be controlled with keyboard shortcuts! Press "K" on the app to find out more!
  • Fixed a horrible issue with the "Switch to Map" feature redirecting the Present view to the DM view!
  • Fixed an issue with the Open5e JSON import tool expecting the API format - it now works both ways!
  • Disabled map ping while using the Fog tool due to numerous false pings.
  • Fixed an issue with flickering during dragging a token to drop on the map.
