A new update is deploying to BedWars across all regions. This update enables daily challenges, and adds two new season challenges.

Daily Challenges

• 3 challenges are picked each day
• Daily challenges are the same for all players
• Daily challenges refresh at 00:00 UTC
• Daily challenges each grant 100XP

Developer note: We hope daily challenges will be a fun way to gain extra XP while playing BedWars. Please note this system is in beta and thus some bugs may be present; we're monitoring and will fix any issues that arise ASAP!

Season Challenges

• Added "Restless - Destroy 50 beds" rewarding 500xp and 1 challenge medal
• Added "Pearl Jumper - Ender Pearl teleport 100 times" rewarding 500xp and 1 challenge medal

Developer note: We'll continue to add more season challenges, along with more rewards, periodically throughout the season.

This is the technical changelog for the launch of BedWars Season 1 which was deployed to all regions today. For a full overview, check out our news post!

Seasons

Developer note: We have more seasonal challenges, as well as daily challenges on the way. Right now we're focusing on monitoring the data to ensure the extra challenges are balanced and fair.

General Changes

• Increased max level to 50
• Enabled modern map voting UI
• Added BedWars bundle
• Increased game time limit to 25 minutes
• Turrets now show a health bar when damaged
• Turrets are now damageable with arrows
• Turrets can now be picked up by the player who placed them, as long as they are undamaged
• Added icons to the team upgrade bench UI

New Items

• Added Bridge Placer item

Developer note: We hope you enjoy the new version of "Bridge Builders", the "Bridge Placer". In our testing, this felt much more fluid and intuitive to use. Also, do not fear, we are actively working on bringing boomboxes back to BedWars!

XP Changes

• Increased final kill XP to 15, from 10
• Increased bed destroy XP to 15, from 10
• Increased victory XP to 40, from 30

Economy Changes

• Diamond Armor has been changed to use multiple currencies, now requiring 4 emeralds and 32 diamonds to purchase
• Reduced the cost of Golden Apples to 20 gold, from 30

Developer note:  We'll have more balance changes coming soon! We'll be tweaking the economy often, especially after adding new items.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed a bug where the knockback from turrets was based on the position of the player who placed it
• Fixed a bug preventing spectators from getting the "report player" item
• Fixed a bug where non-custom games starting with 1 team would not end until the time limit was reached
• Fixed various replay bugs (more on the way!)

The previously announced Treasure Wars stat rewards (hats, hub titles & XP boosters) have been given out to eligible players.

XP Boosters

Players that reached various Treasure Wars level milestones have been awarded XP boosters:

• Level 100 & Prestige 1 Players - 10 XP Boosters
• Prestige 1, Level 100 & Prestige 2 Players - 20 XP Boosters
• Prestige 2, Level 100 & Prestige 3 Players - 30 XP Boosters
• Prestige 3, Level 100 & Prestige 4 Players - 40 XP Boosters
• Prestige 4, Level 100 & Prestige 5 Players - 50 XP Boosters
• Prestige 5, Level 100 - 60 XP Boosters

Treasure Hunter Hats

The top 100,000 Treasure Wars players from January to September 2023 have been awarded special Treasure Hunter hats.

• Top 100,000 Players - Gold Treasure Hunter Hat
• Top 10,000 Players - Diamond Treasure Hunter Hat
• Top 1,000 Players - Emerald Treasure Hunter Hat

Veteran Hub Titles

All players who first played Treasure Wars over a year before it was retired will receive a veteran hub title.

The hub title will display the number of years since your first game.

Players who didn't play Treasure Wars at least a year before it was retired are not eligible for this hub title.

Final Level Hub Titles

All players who played Treasure Wars before it was retired have received a hub title displaying their final Treasure Wars level.

Each prestige level is displayed as an additional 100 levels. For example, Prestige 3, level 50 is displayed as Level 350.

This event won't last forever, so go huntin' while you can.

A patch to BedWars is deploying to all regions. This patch fixes bugs, adds new items, and starts to tweak various gameplay elements.

Developer Note: Thank you all for your feedback! We'll be doing regular patches to BedWars this week as we aim to balance and improve where needed. This patch focuses on smaller changes, but more substantial changes will be coming next week, including the re-implementation of Boomboxes and Bridge Builders.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed an issue where you could damage other players while respawning
• Fixed an issue where you could kill your teammates in rare circumstances
• Fixed an issue where beds could be left on an island if the team left the game

General Changes

• AFK kicking grace period has been increased
• Dragon Fireball now has a cooldown between throws
• Turrets will now break if their supporting block is destroyed
• Reduced the cap of per-island turrets to 3, from 4

UI

• Removed 32 wool from showing in the Inventory UI renderer
• Made the "Bed Destroyed" on-screen title bigger and more noticeable

Developer Note: We'll be further improving UI and sounds in future patches.

Economy Changes

• Increased the cost of Iron Armor to 28 gold, from 20
• Increased the cost of Obsidian to 2 emeralds, from 1
• Reduced the cost of Golden Apples to 30 gold, from 40
• Increased the cost of Knockback Dory to 6 emeralds, from 4
• Reduced the cost of the Tracking Compass to 1 emerald, from 5
• Reduced the cost of the Stone Sword to 5 iron, from 6
• Changed the cost of Bows to 5 diamonds, from 10 gold
• Reduced the cost of Arrows to 8 gold, from 10

Developer Note: Balance in a new game is always hard to judge. We'll continue listening to your feedback and make regular changes to get the economy feeling great!
