It's time for a Hide and Seek update! This update brings six new maps and lots of quality-of-life changes and features!

Changes & Features

Improved messaging, UI, and feedback:

• Block selector now shows rendered images of the blocks in a custom Hive UI grid menu
• Added UI element for showing "Taunt Ready" and "Taunt Cooldown"
• Added a sound effect for when a taunt cooldown has expired
• Modified chat message colors to modernize and improve readability (including removal of all gold text)
• Added Hive Notifications during key events
• When a seeker is randomly chosen, it displays who it was instead of stating they've died
• Changed message shown when a hider leaves the game to "has left the game" instead of "died"
• Added countdown sound effect when there are 10 seconds left of the game

Revamped taunt system:

• Taunt modal has been updated with the Hive UI grid 
• Removed old balloon, emote, and particle taunts
• Added 22 new taunts
• Additional cosmetic taunts can now be unlocked

New Quests:

• Use a taunt x amount of times
• Use a balloon taunt x amount of times
• Use an emote taunt x amount of times
• Deal x amount of damage to a seeker
• Outlive x amount of hiders

Miscellaneous Changes:

• Added support for Hive custom blocks
• Updated the textures of more than 50 hidable blocks
• Added direction hiding - blocks that support rotational values now have support to calculate their direction based on the direction a player is looking
• Added 'Seeker Smasher 5000' custom server option (Sharpness II Iron Sword)

Map Fixes:

• Fixed missing ladders and added barriers to the statue on Kingston
• Opened birch doors leading to the kitchen on Nexus City
• Opened a trapdoor on Goldrush
• Opened birch doors that were blocking a bathroom on China Town

As mentioned in our previous update post, due to a recent multiplayer authentication change by Minecraft, players have been unable to join The Hive when playing on versions below 1.20.

As a result of this change, and in the interest of the safety of our players, The Hive has now discontinued support for versions below 1.20.

Whilst we are aware that some players have been able to join on older versions using modified clients, we cannot verify the safety of such modifications, and the files used to achieve this. Continuing to support these versions would encourage players to seek out these methods, and potentially put them at risk of downloading malicious content.

Whilst we regret the way this change was pulled forward, we are now able to fast-track the use of features and blocks released in Minecraft versions newer than 1.18.

Please note we are not accusing any existing modifications and/or clients of being malicious - we are unable to check every such modification, and even if this was possible, we would be unable to ensure that future updates to these modifications remained safe.

We are aware that players on 1.18 and 1.19 versions are receiving a "Sorry, we couldn't validate your login" error.

This is outside of our (The Hive's) control, and present on all (featured) servers. This is the result of a multiplayer authentication change on the Minecraft side.

We have raised this issue with the correct people. As The Hive has no control over this, we ask everyone to be respectful to our staff as we push for a solution.

A new Bridge update is deploying to all regions. This update adds a pre-game lobby and 8 new maps to The Bridge.

Our brand-new hub has been released!

The Arcade hub has now been vaulted, don't worry though - all of our games can now be accessed in our new hub!

Double XP will now be awarded for an additional 24 hours, until the 2nd of August at 7pm UTC.

Part hamster, part robot... The Robo Hammy can now be purchased from the Quest Store!

For the next 24 hours, players will receive DOUBLE XP in all games!

All additional XP bonuses (XP boosters, Hive+, and login streak rewards) will stack with this bonus.

Double XP will be granted until the 1st of August, at 7pm UTC.
