What's new in MeasureMasters?

Vinay asked me about the new CookieFlags that can now be set into the Google Analytics tag. These ensure your cookie is set to Secure and Same-Site none, which are new settings that the Chrome browser checks and blocks if they are not present when setting a cookie in a third-party (i.e. iframe) context. More on this in the video.

This morning was a small happy moment in this crisis. After 5 years and over 250 videos published we hit the milestone of 100.000 subscribers on YT. It’s funny now to think back on when I got started, but I would have never thought this would be possible. To celebrate we did a little Live Stream this morning on the channel.

Recently I have been doing more Webinars to try to generate Signups for our courses and the membership. One software that we will start using is Everwebinar. Every third-party software brings with it new measure challenges, which I wanted to address for those of you who also use the software or have clients who do.

The effects of the Coronavirus has probably reached most of us by now. Everyone will need to adjust to this new situation sooner or later. The priority right now should be to stay safe and get adjusted to any restrictions you might have. The team at MeasureSchool have fortunately not had too big of an impact on our work.

Two days ago we had our monthly MM Live Training. I invited Ahmad Kanani from Siavak.com to show us how we can use BigQuery as a marketer. He gave a great introductory lesson as well as a live demo on how to take data from Google Analytics, port it to Google Sheets, upload it to BigQuery and then enrich that data with another data set. At the end, he presented the results in Data Studio.

Hope you having a great week. For me the week was mostly spent writing this post on RegEx for Google Tag Manager, which took me a while to compile, research and write, but now that it’s finally published I understand how you can use RegEx in GTM just so much more. Always worth it to go deep.

What's new in MeasureMasters?

Yesterday we’ve had our monthly Measure Master Live Training with Hussain from the analytics consultancy Marketlytics. He talked about how to get started with Event-Driven Analytics. He really went super deep (over 1 hour) on what events actually are and how you can plan them out. Really valuable stuff if you consider how many tools now develop to be more event-driven (Google Analtyics App + Web) and leaving behind the Pageview centric model. Lot’s to learn.

I’m almost ready to leave the warm weather here in Vietnam behind and head back to Berlin where it’s currently 9 degrees Celcius (or 49 Fahrenheit). Happy new year (once again). I’m currently in Vietnam celebrating the Luna new year with my wife’s family. While it’s always a bit odd to be part of a celebration you don’t know much about (although it’s my third time to attend) it’s also good to think about how odd western holidays (like Christmas) must be for Asian people visiting Europe.

What's new in MeasureMasters?
This week we are starting a new project: SOP Library. These shouldn’t be new to anyone running a business. Standard Operating Procedures are written instructions of recurring tasks in your business, that you want to handle in a standard way - ideally, by another person than you.

I’ve already often heard from marketers that they use my videos as SOPs to give to their staff. Unfortunately, they get outdated from time to time, so it’s far easier to create a document that will be updated regularly. So today we are starting a new resource: The SOP Library.

Our first SOP is on installing GTM on a Wordpress site.

I just arrived in Singapore to visit a friend for the weekend.

I love how the Changi Airport (voted best Airport in the world) has these little measurement stations everywhere (from bathrooms to immigration and security). Maybe part of their success?

What's new in MeasureMasters?

Facebook is changing its Tracking all the time so I wanted to add 2 new videos to our Facebook Pixel Tracking course on MeasureMasters. The first one being an alternative method of installing the Pixel with a custom Tag Template (written by Simo Ahava). In the video, I’m migrating over Custom HTML tags to the tag template version. The second video came about from a question I got via our Chat. Can you install 2 Facebook Pixels on to your website? Yes, you can. Check out this tutorial here.
