Net Sales calculation changes

Net Sales

The sale of a gift card is now recorded separately from your product sales. Your gross and net sales will exclude gift card sales. Gift card sales, gift card refunds, and gift card discounts are treated as liabilities instead of normal sales.

The amount paid for the gift card is included in the Payments report under the payment method that the customer used, such as card or cash.

Gift card redemptions are included in Gross and Net Sales. The full value of the item is claimed as sales. For example, a $20 t-shirt with $5 of that purchase paid for by a gift card will show up as $20 in sales. The amount paid by or refunded to a gift card is included in the Payments report as a gift card entry.
