BoardEffect Microsoft 365 Integration!

We are excited to announce we are now integrated with Microsoft 365, allowing you to import directly from OneDrive, edit your Word and PowerPoint documents in BoardEffect, and create new Word and PowerPoint documents in BoardEffect! This not only reduces the number of clicks needed to manage all your documents and attachments, it also maximizes version control capabilities and reduces your risk of error. You need a Microsoft 365 subscription to use this feature. Please see our knowledgebase articles for more information.

Additionally, these changes allow you to:
  • Collaborate with peers by editing the document in BoardEffect together.
  • Save time by editing directly in BoardEffect, without having to download and work outside.
  • Enjoy stronger security. Confidential documents are kept inside BoardEffect, and therefore aren’t at risk of being shared externally by email or other tools.

BoardEffect App Update

We hope that your Board Members and other users are enjoying the enhancements to the Meeting Book Viewer included in our recent app update.

Please note the following related to the update:

  • Any Meeting Books downloaded, prior to the app update, will no longer open.  Users must Remove and Download the Book(s) again. (See the screenshot below) Please note that previous annotations are preserved.

  • Annotations cannot be edited when the Outline (navigation) is open. Close the Outline to edit annotations.
  • Meeting Book pages cannot be swiped horizontally. Only vertical page scrolling is currently available.

Our team is aware of these issues and actively working to resolve.  Please stay tuned for new and updated information under the "What's New" in your BoardEffect Web Platform – indicated by the red badge next to the bell in the upper right corner.  For any questions or issues, please contact support@boardeffect.com

Many thanks for being our valued customers and for your continued partnership.

Released: Updated iOS and Android apps

Important Reminder (as posted since March 2023):  Upon updating the BoardEffect app, previous connections will be removed and no longer appear when users open the app.

  • Users will be required to add their connection and reauthorize their devices.
  • Users will need your platform URL address, as well as their username & password to reauthorize their devices.
  • Users will be prompted to re-enable biometrics (thumbprint or facial recognition) when they reauthorize their device.

The BoardEffect iOS and Android apps have been updated! This release will bring a refreshed look and improved functionality to the Meeting Book Viewer, which will more closely mirror the web platform. Please note that this update will end support for Apple devices running iOS 13.0 or lower, and users will need to establish their connection(s) again.

Changes included in this update (see screenshot below):
 1. The Outline and Annotation panel will be relocated to the left side of the Meeting  Book Viewer, as they are on the web platform.
 2. The Outline and Annotation panel will remain open while scrolling the Meeting Book.
 3. The Search, print and close options will continue to display in the upper right corner.
 4. The Annotations toolbar will remain at the top of the page, grouped by tool type.

New (Optional) Feature for System Administrators: Audit Logs

Audit Logs is a a new feature for System Admins that captures changes made to Meeting Books, Surveys, Library files, User Profiles, and many other components of BoardEffect. Changes can be viewed through filters, and the audit log can also conveniently be exported to an Excel spreadsheet.

For more information, please search for "Audit Logs" in the Knowledge Base by selecting the ? in the upper right corner of your platform.  Audit Logs is an optional free feature and will be added to your BoardEffect platform upon request only.  To enable Audit Logs, contact support at support@boardeffect.com or our Client Success team at training@boardeffect.com.

Blurred/Choppy Text Display

A small number of reports have been received where PDFs are displaying "choppy" text in when viewing Meeting Books and View Only documents in the Library (see example below):

We have confirmed that this is not a BoardEffect issue.  It is a bug with the computer's graphics card driver and the browser's hardware acceleration when rendering 2D canvases, such as building Meeting Books or converting documents in the Library to View Only.

Affected configurations:

  • Windows 10
  • Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge (both Chromium based)
  • Outdated graphics card driver (such as Intel UHD Graphics running driver version 30.0.101.1191)

 Please note this important information:

  • This problem occurs only when specific conditions exist (see the list above).
  • This may impact some Meeting Books/documents, but not others.
  • This may not present for all users, even when viewing the same Book or document.
  • This issue appears to be isolated to HTML display.  Therefore, it may impact only content in the Meeting Book Viewer and View Only documents in the Library on the web platform.  You may not experience this on the downloaded Meeting Book PDF or on the BE app.
  • At present, we have no information regarding a fix release for Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft Edge, or Google Chrome.  We will continue to monitor release announcements for these applications and post here if/when a resolution is found, and an update is anticipated.
  • In the meantime, the following may correct the display:
      • Check with your computer manufacturer to see if a graphics card driver update is available for your computer.
      • Upgrade to Windows 11
      • Turn off accelerated 2D canvas rendering in Chrome or Edge.  See the links below for instructions.  Note: The article title includes Chrome only, however, you will find instructions for Edge as well.

Zoom Update: JWT App Type To Be Removed by Zoom

Introducing the OAuth app to integrate Zoom

On June 1, 2023, Zoom will be removing the JWT option for integrating with BoardEffect.

We've added a new Zoom app called OAuth in Site Settings | Integrations. From now on, this will be the preferred Zoom app type to authenticate your organization's Zoom account in BoardEffect. For more details, refer to Site Settings: Integrate Zoom in the Knowledge Base.

Note: We will continue to support existing Zoom integrations using the JWT app until June 1, 2023. Shortly after the option for JWT will be removed from BoardEffect Site Settings. Changing your configuration to use OAuth will not impact any events that had been created via JWT before June 1, 2023.

For any questions or assistance with setting up the OAuth app type, please reach out to support@boardeffect.com
