Late Bootcamp registration available for your friends & family

As a Momentum member, we wanted to do something special for your friends and family...

We know how you got some pretty amazing results from the last Bootcamp and many of you have friends and family who witnessed your experience and might want to experience the bootcamp for themselves but missed the registration deadline.

Well, while the Bootcamp registration is officially closed to the general public, we decided to allow you to give your friends and family access to register for the Bootcamp until the end of December.

That way, you can geek out on Swing Literacy together and enjoy the benefits of dancing with them after they've gone through the bootcamp.

For details on how to access: heck your email for the subject line: "Got friends or family who want in on the Bootcamp?"

Join us live for Westie Workout #5!

Join us at noon Vancouver time this Sunday Dec 20th for 15 minutes of non-stop FOOT FEST! Wear appropriate shoes/socks and be prepared to work those feet! Use the Momentum Coaching Call Zoom link. The session will be recorded, emailed to you afterward, and uploaded to the website. :)

What members need to know about Bootcamp

1. The Bootcamp is included for free as a perk of your Momentum membership. You do not need to register by the deadline - we will be sending you an email in a few weeks inviting you to "opt-in" if you want to. We're excited to welcome back returning Bootcampers looking to go for another ride and discover what you might have missed the first time!

2. Imagine if more of your community members could have the same experience you did last spring/summer?
As Simone said, "It would definitely be helpful to have more local and active (Swing Literacy-trained) partners and AB's to practice with!"

The deadline for your friends to register for Bootcamp is NOVEMBER 30, so if you have friends that you wish had taken the Bootcamp, now's the time to reach out! Here's the link you can send in a separate email: https://www.swingliteracy.com/dancer-development-program-bootcamp/

3. While you are thinking about telling your friends what they can expect, I should mention a few changes we're making to make it even better:

  • They get access starting December 1st, so they can get a head start on the Theory Module now while they wait for Bootcamp to start in January
  • The Theory Module is slowly being reconstructed into smaller Units and Lessons so it will look a little more like the Momentum website. (no long scrolling, yay!)
  • We have a special upgrade for Teachers: weekly debrief sessions to coach teachers on how to implement the Bootcamp material with their students. You can purchase the Teacher Upgrade here anytime between now and December 31st (as this is an add-on that is not included in the regular Bootcamp). Please don't share this link as the upgrade option is only for Momentum members and people who purchase the Bootcamp.
  • Your non-Momentum friends from Bootcamp get the special alumni 50% discount, which they should already have gotten an email about.

    4. We hope you enjoyed the SpinAbility Challenge! Once the Bootcamp launch dies down, we will be uploading the videos to the website sometime next week. Thank you for your patience with this added perk. In the meantime, we are excited to see your best/worst SpinAbility theme practice videos posted in the Momentum group!

New Royalty-free playlists added for your posts

Good news! Myles has created playlists of royalty-free (Epidemic Sound) music inside of Spotify, so you can use the same platform you are already used to.

Remember to use these royalty-free songs (from our Epidemic Sound license) whenever you post your videos, so you can avoid having issues with the music playback and we can avoid getting penalized by the music companies.

We gave music playlists its own page in this website, which you can find linked on the  "Practice Pods" page. Here's a direct link so you can check it out: https://www.swingliteracy.com/momentum/practice-pods/music-playlists/

Join us LIVE for Westie Workout #4!

Join us at noon Vancouver time this Sunday Nov 15th for 15 minutes of non-stop groovin! Use the Momentum Coaching Call Zoom link. The session will be recorded, emailed to you afterward, and uploaded to the website. :)

SpinAbility theme released!

Finally the much-anticipated SpinAbility theme is OPEN! You can find on the dashboard this month, or where it will be stored permanently in the Personal Movement Skills training track.

How To Watch ViewSync Videos From Facebook Posts

Some of you have mentioned that you can only see one video when you click on the ViewSync links in Facebook posts (like this awesome example post - Great job Pat!).

Here is how to fix that (90 sec):

Basically, if you are trying to view ViewSync videos posted in the FB group, copy/paste the "text URL" instead of clicking on it so you can see both videos, instead of just one.

Note: Be sure not to copy the hyperlinked URL (more details in the "Important Copy/Paste Tip" section below).

Why is this necessary?

For some reason, Facebook is including a slightly inaccurate hyperlink to the original link that is deleting one of the videos from ViewSync when you click on the hyperlink, but it works just fine if you copy/paste the link URL into a new browser tab (video below shows what I mean). Hopefully, Facebook will fix this but until then, just copy/paste to view both videos.

One Exception

On mobile devices, clicking on the auto-generated image link (the blue, orange & white boxes) seems to work too, but only on mobile.

Important Copy/Paste Tip

If you right click on the text link, be sure to select "copy" and *not* "copy link address" as the latter would still copy the inaccurate URL whereas "copy" will just copy the text that is highlighted when you right click on it.

If you are curious to know a little more about why this happens, here is a video explanation (2 min):

Partnering with Rhythmic Agility: BYO partner Oct 25

There are several members who have access to a partner and are eager to get coaching on how to apply all the juicy Partnership Movement Skills from the Theory Module. So on Sunday, October 25, we're going to focus on how to implement Rhythmic Agility movements while dancing with a partner.

AND.... you can bring any WCS partner you want with you (even non-members).

  • If you have a WCS partner/dummy, awesome, bring them and arrange to have your camera on.
  • If you don't have a partner, take advantage of observing how we coach your peers to practice their partnership FMS's with any partner.
