Seeking MoMentors

One of the most valuable aspects of Momentum is the community. You automatically have a common language, training, and approach to their practice that bonds you, and we have facilitated collaboration via AB's and practice pods.

As we welcome new members in a few weeks, let’s reflect on this invaluable feature. Many of you have already established online practice buddies that you started connecting with outside of Momentum. While this is expected, remember that Momentum is still your home base where everyone is welcome and can get what they need. We don’t want to devolve into a group full of cliques, where some members (especially new members) have nowhere to belong. Right?

We really want to make sure that new members coming in feel welcome and integrated, the way you did when you joined. So we’d like to try something new....

***Momentors to mentor new Momentees***

We would like to have a handful of volunteer Momentors we can assign new Momentees to. Ideally, Momentors would only have a few Momentees each. Momentors would be responsible for assisting your Momentees for their first 2 months:
  • Inviting Momentees to some of your practice pod practices so they can “get the hang of it” and meet more people
  •  Encouraging them to find an AB if they haven’t already or need a new one so they don’t rely on you exclusively
  •  Helping them with questions with Momentum theme activities, and encouraging them to ask us for help too so they don’t get stuck
  •  Watching for their posts in Momentum and making sure to comment on them.
You don’t need to schedule extra meeting times with them - you can communicate via messages/email.
If you are already active in Momentum, this should be an easy extension of what you are already doing.
If this sounds like a way you would like to contribute to enrichen the Momentum community, please comment below or send us an email.
Thanks!

The Conversation Game workshop

The Conversation Game workshop recording is waiting for you in the Momentum Library!

You got priority before even the workshop attendees got their recording via email, plus I've added the slides there and in your Worksheet Library.

Don't forget to fill out the Feedback Survey please and thanks

New theme release: Balanced Conversations!

Ooh, we're excited about this one, because it was built from several of your requests and questions, and we found a way to tie them all together in a nice organized package!

BE SURE TO OPEN THIS THEME ASAP and get oriented to what's inside. Heads up - you'll need to schedule a Zoom session ASAP so you can meet up with fellow high-rollers this week: not for physical practice, just for brainstorming for one of the first activities.

Videos wanted! Join the montage!

Ready for another Montage video? We've done Boing, Spins, Groove, and In the Wild, now it's time for... a Feetwork Montage!
Help contribute to this fun group project by submitting a 30 second video of you from the knees down doing ANY kind of fun footwork: drills, variations, suedes, anything. Plus it would be great if you could add a 10 second clip of you smiling or being silly from the shoulders up (just to give the final video some personality to break up all the feet views). Don't worry we'll choose your best 6 seconds or so. Dance to any music you want @ 90bpm because we will mute it anyway and insert a different song.
Please put your video in this shared Google folder to contribute to the project: https://drive.google.com/.../1HowGkHOr7ZCBlFDSZhDtA...
Thanks!!!

Reunion Retreat now open to your friends/partners

We've got a few more spots available in the Swing Literacy Reunion Retreat Nov 29-Dec 2, so we are now opening it up to non-alumni friends/partners that you would like to invite: we'll give them priority! Have them apply here: https://www.swingliteracy.com/reunion-retreat
If you've been on the fence, now's the time to commit before these spots are gone!
Got questions? We did a LIVE Q&A in the Momentum Facebook group, which has now been added to the same website page under FAQ's at the bottom.

New theme release: The Boing Lab!

We know many of you have been eagerly awaiting this one! Remember the breakthroughs that you got from Anchor Shaping (which was in the Patterns & Styling track)? The Boing Lab provides you with that same opportunity for your Partnership Movement Skills - focusing on consistent, adaptable elasticity, on time, under any conditions!

INVITE A PARTNER for the last 60 minutes for coaching call #1: Sunday, Oct 10!

Guest presenters for Confidence theme

We've got two awesome guest presenters this week, speaking on different topics around confidence! They have been carefully selected for their amazingly inspiring energy and dedication to the empowerment of fellow Westies. Even if you can't make it live, you're going to want to watch both, and you get credit for it anyway!
Sunday: Kay Newhouse
Monday: Dr. Stevie Dawn

Extended registration & Friends & Family discount

We know how you got some pretty amazing results from the last Bootcamp and many of you have friends and family who witnessed your experience and might want to experience the Bootcamp for themselves but missed the registration deadline.

Well, while the Bootcamp registration is officially closed to the general public, as a Momentum perk, we're allowing you to give your friends and family access to register for the Bootcamp (and use their Friends & Family discount) until September 5. This counts for the Teacher Track too!

Get in on the Bootcamp, and announcing new Teacher Track!

As a Momentum member, one of the biggest perks is getting the Bootcamp for free!

But you have to register to opt-in - we sent you an email with a link to do this instantly.

Also watch your email for more info about the new Teacher Track we are adding this time! This is the most recent update of our Teacher Development Program. It involves a separate parallel course for teachers to accompany the DDP, which has assignments, feedback, and dedicated coaching calls for teachers.

Check your email for all the details!
