Proforma Invoice Preview

Knowing exactly what you will be charging your customers is vital to running your business and maintaining client relationships. Proforma invoices has been a feature request asked by many of our customers, so we are excited to announce the completion of its first roadmap milestone. The new proforma preview feature will allow you to view the next billing invoice amount for a subscription.

This previewing function is the first milestone in our Proforma roadmap feature request. This can be used in your formal review processes when upgrading your customers on an annual basis, for example.

Subscription Groups in Salesforce

Our latest Salesforce integration (v3) is continually being enhanced to parody the functionality in Chargify that is used by your sales & support teams, preventing them to swivel between two systems to serve your customers' needs. The latest update to our Salesforce integration now utilizes Chargify’s Subscription Groups. When creating a subscription you can now select if the subscription should be billed individually or in a consolidated invoice with other subscriptions.

For more information on our latest integration with Salesforce, see our documentation here>

Gain Predictable Recurring Revenue with Prepaid Subscriptions

You can now provide your customers with a new subscription type: Prepaid. Our latest core functionality allows you to create prepaid usage-based billing models providing a safety net for your recurring, predictable revenue. This new subscription type works with either metered or events-based components, giving you full flexibility on how you want to charge and how your customers want to use and pay for your product or service. Your customers can gain peace of mind with a true value-based pricing model where they pay in advance for usage they will decrement against as they use your product or service.

With real-time visibility, both you and your customers benefit from always knowing the exact state of funded balances and usage against those balances. In addition, auto-replenishment is an option so that your customers can decide when to re-up their balance after hitting a specifically defined threshold, that is set at the customer level, not the product level. This added level of customization provides you the ability to provide a white-glove service approach to your customers.

Prepaid Subscriptions also come with sophisticated notification workflows that can keep all or some of your customers in the know of where they stand with their prepaid usage. Customers always know what usage they have paid for with invoices generated at the end of each renewal period.

For more information on Prepaid Subscriptions, see our documentation here>

  • Access to the old layout at the bottom of the page for easy comparison between versions

Account Updater with BlueSnap

Credit Cards numbers change all the time, regardless of the reason (ie. expiry dates), these updates impact your ability to successfully bill on time. Last month we announced the launch of BlueSnap, a payment gateway specializing in global payments. As this integration continues to expand to meet our customers' needs, we are excited to announce that the Account Updater feature has been added.

The Account Updater from BlueSnap enables card information changes (such as expiration data changes, account number changes, account closures, and more) to be conveniently and automatically updated, reducing failed payments and the need to contact each customer directly.

With Account Updater, you can maintain customer satisfaction of customer service due to non-payment while minimizing costs associated with collections and manual account updates. The BlueSnap Account Updater service is supported for American Express, Discover, Mastercard and Visa cards.

For more information on the BlueSnap integration, see our documentation here >

API Endpoints Supporting Subscription Groups

As Chargify continues to evolve the way you can manage subscription groups,  new API endpoints have been added that give you the option to easily navigate and view:

  • Groups
  • Members of the groups
  • Balances of group accounts

Cancellation and reactivation of the entire group can happen through a single API call. In addition, groups can now have their own service credits and prepayments, apart from individual member subscriptions.

For more information on our API endpoints supporting subscription groups, see our documentation here >

More Countries Supported with AvaTax

As your company continues to grow and expand into new regions, tax compliance can be a difficult sticking point. To support your growth, Chargify has added several new supported countries  to our AvaTax integration, including:

  • Brazil
  • Mexico
  • South Korea
  • Taiwan
  • Vietnam
  • Israel
  • United Arab Emirates

For more information of Chargifys  AvaTax supported countries or our AvaTax integration in general, see our documentation here >

Multi-Currency Functionality Now Generally Available

The multi-currency functionality originally announced in May is now generally available and available for all Chargify customers. As a reminder, this change greatly reduces the overhead you experience from selling internationally!

With Chargify’s multi-currency functionality you simply specify what currencies are available on each of your sites, configure your pricing, and allow your customers to sign up for products and services in those currencies. No more managing multiple sites or multiple product offerings (as required by some billing systems) just to achieve multiple currency support.

For more information on how multi-currency works, see our documentation >

Invoice Amount in Subscription Export

The most recent amount invoiced has now been added to the Subscription report to provide even more detail on the current state of the Subscription at the time of export. This field represents the total amount billed, in cents, of the most recent recurring invoice (does not include mid-period probation invoices). It does not include invoices in a pending status or invoices which have been voided.

For more information on our Subscription Export, see our documentation here >

Product Details in the MRR Movements Export

The MRR Movements Export is a great way to get a detailed view of all MRR changes for a period of time. These movements include new sales (new_business), upgrades (expansion), customers coming out of hold status' (reactivation), customers shrinking (contraction), and customers leaving all together (churn). The Product ID (product_id) and Name (product_name) have now been added to this export to provide more detail around where the MRR movement is occurring.
