Chargify Business Intelligence: Explorer & Out-of-the-Box Metrics

Last week, we released Chargify Business Intelligence (BI), providing our customers with the most powerful reporting and analytics tool seen in the recurring billing space. To show you our excitement with our latest release, we will be bringing you frequent updates on the robust functionality BI offers you and your team. This week, we are talking about the Explorer, a tool that allows you to create, save, and manage custom metrics.

The Explorer enables you to perform flexible analysis on your Chargify data by creating metrics. Metrics run queries on your data based on selectable parameters and return a visualization of the query result. These metrics can be saved, easily added to a dashboard, and then securely shared with key stakeholders.

To help you get started, Chargify Business Intelligence offers 24 out-of-the-box metrics. Out-of-the-box metrics provide a baseline and can be cloned and customized for additional granularity. You can also create custom metrics from scratch.

Enhanced Finance Report Now in General Availability

The new version of the Finance Report is now live and is available for users. We have made several enhancements to the layout of the new report for added detail and clarity. The new report provides:

  • Sales broken out by component type
  • Credits broken out by credit type
  • Net Payments by subtracting Refunds from Payments
  • An ‘In Collections’ subcategory of Expected Payments for subscriptions that have failed Dunning but have open invoices
  • Access to the old layout at the bottom of the page for easy comparison between versions

For more information on the Finance Report, see our documentation here>

Invoice Amount in Subscription Export

The most recent amount invoiced has now been added to the Subscription report to provide even more detail on the current state of the Subscription at the time of export. This field represents the total amount billed, in cents, of the most recent recurring invoice (does not include mid-period probation invoices). It does not include invoices in a pending status or invoices which have been voided.

For more information on our Subscription Export, see our documentation here >

Product Details in the MRR Movements Export

The MRR Movements Export is a great way to get a detailed view of all MRR changes for a period of time. These movements include new sales (new_business), upgrades (expansion), customers coming out of hold status' (reactivation), customers shrinking (contraction), and customers leaving all together (churn). The Product ID (product_id) and Name (product_name) have now been added to this export to provide more detail around where the MRR movement is occurring.

New A/R Aging Report

Tracking your A/R aging can be difficult without the right tools. To cut down the time you spend tracking and increase your ability to understand and take action, Chargify has introduced a new A/R Aging Report as an extension of the A/R Dashboard. This report, formatted as a .csv export, provides a complete list of customers, subscriptions, and invoices in an aging view so you can easily understand your days sales outstanding and repeat offenders. To round out your A/R view, this report also include all outstanding service credits and prepayments providing you with all obligations data in a single location.

If you are already using the A/R Dashboard, this report is already available to you. If not, gain access to the A/R Dashboard by contacting your Customer Success Manager or Chargify Support.

To understand more about the new A/R Aging Report, see our documentation >

Know More With Our New A/R Dashboard

Closely tracking and understanding your accounts receivables is top of mind for many B2B SaaS companies. To ensure you have the top A/R indicators at a glance, we have rolled out a new A/R Dashboard! This dashboard includes information on:

  • Outstanding Invoices
  • Average Days Outstanding
  • Number of Outstanding Invoices
  • A graphical representation of you aging by number of invoices and balances
  • A sortable outstanding invoice list that can be viewed by Invoice Due Date, Product, and Dunning Status

If you are interested in leveraging the A/R Dashboard, please contact your Customer Success Manager or Chargify Support.

Enhanced Flexibility on Invoice Presentment

It is now possible to hide the quantity column on your invoices - giving you more flexibility when deciding what information to present to your customers. This enhancement is especially useful for companies who provide 'all you can use' pricing or who wish to only display product, price and line item amount on their invoice.

For information on how to hide the quantity column on your invoices, see our documentation >

Simplify Period End Processes With New End of Period Balance Export

It is now easier to complete your period closing activities with the End of Period Balance csv export. This export provides your list of Subscriptions and their current balance (or month end balances for historical months), taking into account all transactions including Discount Amount, Taxes, Credits, Payments, and Refunds. The report can then be used to generate a view per subscription and customer, greatly reducing the amount of effort required to understand your end of period balances and close your books.

To learn more about the End of Period Balance Export see in our documentation >
